I’ve been on a Rach 3 binge and there’s true master performances out there on YouTube….Horowitz, sokolov, bronfman, argerich, etc. outside of these masters, there’s almost a sense of “whew, got through it, all done”…after all, that’s the rach 3 reputation….audience rewards simply the completion of this monster….just finishing is an accomplishment in itself.

with Lim, it’s like “yeah, I’ve completely mastered this, let me show you what I can do”. a completely different attitude, and it’s stunning.

The movie Shine was like my Wayne’s World Bohemian Rhapsody. I had heard of the rach 3, but the popularity of the film and the importance of the piece took my interest up a notch.

Then watching the old Horowitz video from 1978….took it up another notch.

Now with Lim, it’s another monumental occasion. I’m honored to experience it!

what a conversation between a experienced conductor and a young artist. what a great story they bring to us.

  9. His professor Minsu Sohn said he literally practices all day except to have meals. He advised Lim that he needs to go Andante and that it was important to get enough sleep before the competition.

  10. 좋은 연주 듣고 간만에 국뽕도 채우고
