“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved tale of Ariel, a gorgeous and lively young mermaid with a crave for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most disobedient, Ariel longs to figure out more about the world beyond the ocean and, while visiting the surface, falls for the rushing Prince Eric. While mermaids are prohibited to interact with human beings, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes an agreement with the diabolic ocean witch, Ursula, which gives her an opportunity to experience life on land but in the end places her life – and her dad’s crown – in jeopardy. The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric; Tony Award® victor Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”) as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca”) as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina; Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby; with Oscar® victor Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® candidate Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.
“The Little Mermaid” is directed by Oscar® candidate Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Mary Poppins Returns”) with a playscript by two-time Oscar candidate David Magee (“Life of Pi,” “Finding Neverland”). The songs feature music from multiple Academy Award® victor Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”) and lyrics by Howard Ashman, and new lyrics by three-time Tony Award® victor Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film is produced by two-time Emmy® victor Marc Platt (“Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” “Grease Live!”), Miranda, two-time Emmy winner John DeLuca (“Tony Bennett: An American Classic”), and Rob Marshall, with Jeffrey Silver (“The Lion King”) serving as executive producer.
I’m trying hard to keep neutral, but these trailers destroy my imagination about ariel, where is my childhood mermaid? 😭
Just another alien invasion movie. This time, it is not an alien but a fish
However bad the film might turn out to be…. Alan Menken is returning and can’t wait to hear the soundtrack… Halley seems to be a terrific singer
I love the part when Prince Eric shouted “THIS IS SPARTA!!”, then kicked Ariel into the pit! So epic!!
I really loved the part where King Tritain tells Ariel that she’s actually adopted. Goosebumps all over!!!
Bravo Disney with the epic plot twist!
why is everyone commenting like this? 😕
Sorry, I have to dislike this. I prefer the original Ariel voiced by Jodi Benson.
This is one of the movies of the year!
