Is the 2023 Honda Civic Type R the BEST new performance automobile to BUY?

NO CAMO FIRST LOOK: The Civic Type R is at long last here in the flesh and Honda brought a ton of changes. This hot hatch goes up against automobiles like the Elantra N, GR Corolla, VW GTI & Golf R. On the outdoors you will notice a lower/wider body, 19in wheels, massive rear wing and new sheet metal. On the inside you will be greeted by the return of red carpet, highly bolstered performance seats and an aluminum shift knob. Under the hood is an updated 2.0L inline-4 turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. Is the 2023 Honda Civic Type R the BEST new performance car to BUY?

  4. In my market I can buy a new Mustang GT for less than a used Civic type R. Honda needs to make more of these things. I wonder if they’ve ever even had one sitting on a lot new, their all bought before they even arrive.

  5. “the red floor mats give it 5 extra horsepower” Lmaoo I’m so mad you said that 🤣🤣

  6. Best? No, but anyone who thinks the Type R is a slouch or isn’t one of the best is kidding themselves. Honda’s recent lapses in quality aside, the Type R is lives up to namesake.

  7. Sorry looks like crap. Gramma put a wing on.

  8. Honda really hit this one out of here! and by out of here, I mean a Grand Slam Homerun… in the bottom of the ninth… down by 3 runs… in the world series… game 7….

We are living in another golden era for Japanese performance cars although not as many as the 90s, perhaps the last era for pure ICEs and that’s why these companies are pumping out great cars. CTR, 400Z, GR Corolla, 86, Supra and Yaris. No these will never be your 90s legends, buy a 90s legend if you want one. As a motorsport engineer and by today’s standards, I truly believe the current ones are some of the best all around cars to live with and have fun on the track, and no doubt many of these will be the 2020s legends 30 years from now. Appreciate these cars while you can! Cars don’t need to be 30 years old and hyped up by some youtuber to be a good car!
