I Won’t Be Sponsored By Your Trash Product (The Jimquisition)

I am inundated with emails from companies trying to get me to do paid promotion for them. Whether it’s simple sponsorships or full-on advertorials, PR companies seem intent on trying to get me to do something I very famously DON’T do.

It’s insulting, and indicative of a marketing firm that’s bad at being a marketing firm. If your research is so utterly flawed that you’d think MY audience is a “good fit” for your Magic the Gathering commercial, you’re officially bad at your job. Now go away.

  1. It would be more straight forward if they merely said” Hey Mr. Sterling would like to make some money with a sponsored ad?”

  2. “Because it was funny!”

It was, sir. It was funny.

  3. PR Team: Advertise for us.
    Jim: No.
PR Team: We have Mint Condition Bogglins.

  4. The research they did was “Oh Jim Sterling doesn’t have any sponsors, we can be the first!”
    Probably.

  5. This is kinda why i don’t take any sponsored adds on people’s video’s seriously. Yeah, Im SURE you use this product yourself and think it’s amazing and aren’t just saying that cuz you’re paid to. SURE.

  6. AAAWWW, has someone been spammed by Raid: Shadow Legends.

  7. I imagine that even if you replied with a straight up “No, I am not interested.” that they would still reply back to say something like “Why not? This is a great opportunity!” or some other such rubbish.

  8. I feel the urge to start a videogame ad agency called quarter-circle back

  9. Jim’s inbox will now be filled with loads of people just saying circle back.

  10. Oh, that’s why I was seeing NordVPN adds everywhere lately.

  11. Sometimes I feel like there’s no actual people at those PR firms. Just algorithms, sending out emails with offers to anyone even slightly famous.

  12. The font of all garbage

You’ll have to find a Scrooge Mcduck picture now where he’s swimming through a vault of integrity instead of money.

  13. It’s for things like this that it’s hard not to admire Jim Sterling. The guy can be blunt but he stinks of honesty.

  14. No, I don’t want to play Tiger King: Shadow Legends.

  15. According to Tom Scott, putting the phrase “I do not take sponsorships” in chinese on the site with the Email too helps a lot.

  16. “Why would you do that?!?” is priceless.

  17. all the down thumbs are from the PR people that didn’t read his contact info.

  18. 60-second “integrations”? They don’t even have the balls to call them advertisements? Wowee
