More than fifty folks have passed away and thousands of others have been displaced by all-encompassing flooding in parts of western Germany and Belgium.

In Germany – the most severely affected country – dozens of folks continue to be missing.

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has declared it a disaster, connecting the events to global warming.
